TOWN OF NIAGARA CODE-CHAPTER 237 IN PART STATES,

Parking of vehicles is hereby prohibited on all streets within this Town between 3:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. During snowstorm or emergency, parking is prohibited "at all times" to allow plows or emergency vehicles clear passage.

In the past, people owning vehicles which were in violation of the overnight parking were asked to comply but many were not doing so. Your continued cooperation in maintaining clean and safe roads is greatly appreciated.

 

THE DEPOSITING OF SNOW ON HIGHWAYS OR SHOULDERS PROHIBITED

Section 1219 of the Vehicle & Traffic Law and Section 214 of the Highway Law of New York State, specifically prohibit the plowing or blowing of snow, ice or other substance, upon any highway (which includes pavement, shoulders and ditches).

All Snow Plow Owners must obtain a business License

 

SANITATION HOLIDAY PICKUP SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  If your collection day is on or follows any of these holidays during the week, your collection day will be one (1) day later.    

Place containers (32 gal. max) & or bags (3 mil minimum) with your MSW, yard waste or ashes (cold ashes only) at the roadside before 6:00 a.m. on your pick-up day.  If you have a ditch in front of your property, place the materials between the road and the ditch.  60 pounds per container or bag is the limit for weight.  Containers must have handles and bags must be secured and tied.  Brush and/or tree limbs must be no longer than 4 feet in length, 4 inches in diameter, must be bundled, securely tied and not weigh more than 60 lbs. each.

DO NOT INCLUDE tires, pesticides, oils solvents, flammable liquids, explosives, animal carcasses, fecal matter, industrial wastes, other regulated household hazardous wastes or building materials left behind by a contractor.

LARGE ITEMS

In addition to the large/bulk/trash pick up schedule (see below), residents are allowed to put out one (1) large item each week.  A large item is any acceptable item too large to fit into a 32 gallon container or bag and too large typically for one (1) man to handle.  These items shall include but are not limited to: furniture, mattresses,box springs, porcelain sinks, tubs or toilets, carpets (cut 4 feet wide, 10 feet in length & securely tied, appliances and Christmas trees.  Roofing shingles, sideing or drywall must be containerized and not exceed the 60 lbs limit.  All metals,pipe, gutters, railings, scrap, etc. will be picked up by the Town.

APPLIANCES/AIR CONDITIONERS

All units containing CFC gases (Freon) must have a certified sticker attached to the unit verifying that the gases have been properly removed.  Units without stickers will not be picked up.

ALLIED will not clean up messes due to bag or can blowouts.

JUNE IS CLEAN UP MONTH

ALL DEBRIS MUST BE BOXED, BUNDLED OR BAGGED. NO TIRES, NO LARGE LOOSE PILES OF DEBRIS

  BRUSH

Brush and/or tree limbs must be no longer than 4 feet in length, 4 inches in diameter,must be bundled, securely tied and not weigh more than 60 lbs. each.  They will be picked up on your regular garbage day. 

April 1 - October 31

Large piles of branches over 5 ft. in length should be NEATLY piled by roadside, with cut ends facing the road for the chipper

The Town does not pick up tree trunks, roots or stumps

ANY TREES TRIMMED OR CUT BE A TREE SERVICE CONTRACTOR MUST BE DISPOSED OF BY THE CONTRACTOR.
